Review of Channellock CBS-4 Code Blue 3-Piece Pliers Gift Set

I was able to pick these up on sale for about half the regular price and given the reputation of channellock tools, it is a great deal at that price. What you really have to consider is that these are the exact same tools as the regular channellocks but with a thick rubber jacket. A nice feature is the lettering on the bottom of each of tools that easily identify them while inverted in my tool box. I've noticed that the coating that protects their tools has become a little sloppy looking, and there are comestic imperfections from the manufacturing process. These are signs that the tools are not same as their predecessors but functionality has not degraded. I really like the weight to the needle nose and the pliers and cutters are as as expected. The screwdriver is nothing special. Another thing-at first glance you may think these are insulated tools but think again. My final point is that I would buy them again (at half price)!

We use these side cutters in a fencing operation in New Zealand and we find that they are the only cutters that will take the rough handling.
The cutters will cut all the wire we use from high tensile to soft wire.

For the large number of tasks one uses a plier for, a v jaw helps clench tighter and prevents damage. I find myself reaching for it more than my other pliers and it is a simple difference with a great benefit. Review of Craftsman 9-45305 3 Piece Auto Lock Plier Set

I got one of these things about a year ago (the 7in).This is a very cool tool.There is an adjusting "nob" right above the handle grips, between the grips (it's the little silver thing in the picture).You turn the nob in either direction to adjust the pressure level that the pliers clamp down on.These pliers are NOT like vise grips however!The difference here, is that the Auto Lock's clamp down ALL the way, EVERY time, unlike with vise grips, which you have to finesse in order to get them to clamp down on your object.

Let me explain this differently... when you turn the nob in the middle, you adjust how much pressure the Auto Locks will apply on any given thickness of material.They will apply the same pressure to something that is one inch thick, AS WELL AS something one millimeter with the same setting applied.This pressure level can be very light pressure, or very heavy pressure, depending on which way you turn the nob.A very useful feature!They're like vise grips on steroids!!!

My only gripe would be, when these (or at least MINE) are set to the very light pressure setting, they tend to snap back out (or release) when I remove my hand.The SHOULD clamp down on the object, without you having to keep your hand there.Harder pressures work fine, it's just the light pressure that gives me difficulty.

Review of Irwin 2078710 3 Piece 8-Inch 10-Inch and 12-Inch Groove Lock Tray Set

I originally purchased a larger (8 pc) Irwin pliers set from Amazon.com for my home shop and was so impressed its performance that I ordered this set for my truck tool box. These pliers adjust quickly to any size pipe thanks to the push button release mechanism. When they lock into place there is no slippage or play. The V-Groove built into the jaws is a great help with stabilizing round pipe or square tubing. The handles work exceptionally well and minimizes fatigue in your hands. I highly recommend this 3 piece set more maximum utilization. There are other comparable products on the market, but dollar-for dollar, this set is the way to go.

As a mechanic i use lots of different brands and styles of tools. I borrowed one of these 424's from a co-worker to remove some stripped-out phillips screws. The tiny little jaws grabbed with ease and security, and i was able to just twist the screw right out.
His pair is about 3 years old and has seen a great deal of use. They are "ChannelLock" brand so you know it's going to be highly durable and purpose built. I have a few Snap-On/BluePoint pairs of channellock's style pliers, and yet the "ChannelLock" brand pliers outperform in every size category; from this 424, pocket sized pair, all the way up to my mammoth 480 'baby-gitters'.
I was Very impressed.
-just thought i'd write a review while i was on here buying two pairs. -i know my roommate's gonna want one when he sees 'em.

These cut better than the Channellock Nippers which I have which are slightly larger.If you are trying to choose between the two, I would recommend these first, even though I think the Nippers are very good.

I also agree with Brian C.'s comments about curved diagonal pliers viv-a-vis straight ones.Much better to buy the curved ones.

Review of Channellock 480 5-1/2-Inch Jaw Capacity 20-Inch Tongue and Groove Plier

These Channellock 480 Big Azz channel-lock pliers are an excellent product. Good sharp teeth, big physical size. For that big thing you need to grab that can be as big as 5" this tool does the job. Made in the USA.

The only knock is that they have some sharp and seemingly unfinished edges. Most older tools have all the sharp edges removed. Too bad they are they are cutting corners on the finished feel.

Still a great and highly recommended product.

Like many folks I've owned a number of pairs of "channel lock" type pliers, from Craftsman to many no-name brands.I ordered these because the price was very good, I believe $12.99 at the time.I've used them a few times now and they are easily superior to the other brands I have.The joints never slip, the teeth are very tough, and the design is great, allowing you to grip a hex-nut in the center portion of the plier.I'll probaly give away some of my other sets and just keep these.Highly recommended for the price.
